Sweet Smelling Remedy

Hey Everyone!

Flu season isn't here just yet - but I'd thought I'd share this amazing product with you that helped make the road to recovery just that much better. Blocked/Runny noses can be one of the most irritable things ever, it gets the our nose area either terribly dry or incredibly sore from blowing out the mucus.

BUT DO NOT WORRY! Have no fear, help is here! All that can be solved with Smith's Rosebud Salve !

I used to only use it for my lips in my normal skincare regimen but when I got sick, my nose area started to get really sore so I simply applied the product to soothe the area. It made breathing through my mouth (when my nose was blocked) a lot more comfortable -  as it created a protective layer between my sore/ irritated skin and the air that constantly made it a lot dryer.

Personally, this is a product that I like to take on flights with me in the tube version (so its a little more hygienic, depending on your preferences really) to soothe any dry patches that I might have, as the cabin pressure tends to suck the moisture out.

While there may be other products like such in the market, there's a light scent that that comes within this particular product that brings about a sense of comfort when applied. The texture isn't as thick as your typical petroleum jellies (Depending on the condition you store your rosebud salve in) and re-application usually doesn't take more than twice a day (upon personal experience) depending on your current lip condition. Application on the lips is beyond smooth and although it looks pink in the container, it appears clear.

The rosebud salve is no doubt a staple product that every girl should have in their makeup/skin care collection. A smooth canvas in prepping for your makeup is always the best. In fact, you can create a very simple lip care routine out of it too! Should you guys want to know how - Do not hesitate and leave it in the comments section telling us you'd like to see it and we will definitely put up a video about it within the following week!

My 5 favorites

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

It's midweek, so I suppose everyone's happy they're 3(..?) days closer to the weekend! (Unless you're working on the weekend.. but I'm hoping this will cheer you up!)

Ashley wrote out her 5 favorite products, and I was wondering if I should do the same or perhaps change to 5 favorite skin regimes or 5 favorite types of masks; but just for consistency's sake I will be doing my 5 favorite products first.

// Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Glow (Pink Blast)

I've been using this for almost half a year and I've got absolutely no complaints, besides the fact that I keep losing the damned thing because it's so small. It's smooth, it glides on really well, and the color stay is rather good for a SGD$6 product.

I would actually compare it to Dior Addict's Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in terms of color payoff. The only difference is (clearly) the price, and that Dior's is slightly more glossy. I've recommended this to many people, who have been very happy with it too. I have it in Pink Blast because I like a more vibrant color, but you can go with pink glow for a more subtle and natural look.

Find it any drugstore around you. (eg. Watsons/Guardian)

// Laneige Art Play Waterproof Eyeliner

This is one of the best liquid eyeliners I have ever used. I cannot give comment on the best pencil/gel because I have rather oily lids, and despite my best efforts, they always smudge on me. However, I have used a few waterproof eyeliners that do not budge, though this takes the cake.

It is felt tipped, so very easy to apply onto the eyelids, as opposed to the difficulty some may face while using brush tips. It stays on ALL DAY, and only comes off with a good makeup remover. You may need to be patient though, because it stays so long it actually refuses to come off sometimes. The product is rather pricey, I actually got it as a gift as mine is a limited edition, but you can get their normal ones which are about SGD $30.

Find it at any Laneige Booth in department stores.

// Nars Orgasm Blush

Now I know many people have raved about it, so I am just going to join the bandwagon because it is that good. The result is a very natural pink with gold flecks which actually help to illuminate the skin. I buff mine in using a Sigma Round Kabuki Brush (F82) so the color stays on longer and remains more distinct than merely brushing it onto the skin.

For me, It lasts almost all day, ending with a very very subtle pink glow on my cheeks. For others, I know theirs actually do not last as long. As mentioned, I think it's because I buff mine into my skin. A little really does go a long way, so do not apply too much. There's once that I did, and Ashley thought I got sunburnt.

Find it at Tangs Departmental Store.

// Bobbi Brown Corrector (Light to Medium Bisque)

I come from a long line of pandas; and even if I don't, you'd never be able to tell. So if I had one thing I cannot live without (ABSOLUTELY!!!!), it would have to be eye concealer. I do not use concealer on any other part of my face as my acne cream already does that for me already - a product I will mention later. I did not really like Bobbi Brown's eye concealers when I first started using make up. That would have to be because I really did not know how to use make up.

I would not say I have improved to make-up artist level, but hey, I'm sure 6 years have definitely brought me somewhere. So the thing about these correctors/concealers from this particular brand is that you kind of have to start with a very very light layer first and let it dry. If by then you still look like you resurrected from the dead (a.k.a me), then add another layer and let it dry. (What I used to do before was pat it all in, thickness and what not, and end up with a super cakey lower eye.)

Anyway, after all that "letting dry", I dust on a very light layer of Guerlain's Meteorites as a form of loose powder onto my eyelids to set the concealer. On days where I still look like hell, I will dust another layer of Smashbox's halo powder below my eyes as well.

Find it at any Bobbi Brown outlet.

// Dr Hauschka Cover Stick in Shade 2

This is my lifesaver. Literally. Generally, I like to believe I have pretty good skin. But my hormones like to tell me otherwise; and when that happens, this comes to my rescue. I have been breaking out on my chin and the sides of my face, and some of those can get really red.

This cover stick helps me to dull out the redness (note: I did not say erase completely), and also heal my pimples at the same time. In terms of concealer power, I would give it a 3/5, but in terms of healing as a acne treatment, I would give it a 4/5. How I use it is I dab it onto my pimple, and then blend it in lightly around the edges. Easy Peasy.

Find it at any Dr Hauschka outlets, or Unity Super Market.

AND THAT'S MY 5 FAVORITE PRODUCTS (for this month)!!

We may or may not be putting up a video this friday as we are really quite behind on our schoolwork, but we will definitely  try our best! :)

Hello! & my current favorites

Hey everyone!

Welcome to our beauty blog hosted by both Sam & I , where we share our tips & tricks as well as review the beauty products that we've come across. We've come up with a decent schedule to keep you entertained weekly.

So for our first post up on our blog, we've decided to share our current beauty favorites so you guys get a taste of what we're into.

// Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

I have rather thick hair & the ends tend to get dry- I've been through different types of hair mask and I feel that this is one of the best hair masks ever. The refreshing scent is a bonus to the luscious hair that the mask leaves you with. I definitely recommend using this only twice a week (max) as our hair would slowly be immune to the effects if used daily.  I've had my tub since November last year and its still going strong till now!

Find it here

//Revlon just bitten kissable balm stain in #smitten

The Just Bitten Kissable balm stains are the perfect formulation for me, I don't find that its drying throughout the day ( with a lip balm as a base) and it's a buildable colour. It is everything that I've searched for in a tinted lip balm/ lip stain / lipstick to have. Its absolutely perfect.

Find it here: or at your local Sasa

//Neutrogena hydroboost water gel

This is my holy grail moisturizer- I've been using this for about 3 years straight. It doesn't have much of a scent but it definitely leaves my skin feeling velvety smooth after carrying out my skin care regime. It doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and the gel sinks in right away! I've gone through countless containers of these and I highly
recommend it to people who have normal/ combination skin.

Find it here: or at your local watsons/ guardian

// Cover girl lash blast fusion mascara

Sadly this product isn't available in Singapore but its definitely something to pick up when you're traveling out of the country. I use it everyday when I have make up on - it really end separates and lengthens my lashes. On mornings where I haven't gotten much sleep, this mascara ( along with my eye lash curler) really helps to make me look more awake.

// Marc Jacobs daisy Eau So fresh

I've been on the hunt for a decent fresh scent that isn't too overpowering and upon being gifted this by a dear friend a couple of weeks ago I can honestly say that this is my go to scent. The details to the packaging represents the scent really well and it reminds me of a bed of fresh flowers.

Thank you for reading our posts and I hope this has been somewhat useful to you :)
Stay tuned for Sam's favourites that will be up soon!

Quick Introduction

Hi Everyone,

this is a quick introduction to our blog. We realize this was rather impromptu decision, though we have been planning to open up a space to pen our make up reviews for awhile. We had been thinking of names for so long, that we eventually put off creating a blog till now.

So we'd like to tell you a bit about ourselves.

Our names are Samantha Loh and Ashley Tang and we are currently 2nd year Design Communication (Diploma) students in LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore.

We decided to start up a makeup/skincare blog because we constantly buy so many but have only each other to share our information with. By creating a website, we thought we could share our views with many more like-minded people.

We will be posting up videos on youtube from time to time, and put up reviews/hauls/raves up here on our blog. If you have any requests or questions, please feel free to leave comments and we will definitely try to get back to all of them.

Once again, thank you for all your support!
