BB Creams, otherwise known as Blemish Balm Creams, aren't new in the market - they started off as a sensation from Korea and then slowly spread to the rest of the world. Though it originally started off as something to soothe, protect and calm the skin from facial procedures, it proceeded to become one of the world's best-selling cosmetic.
Dr Young's BB Creams are formulated in a joint effort between Korea's first founder of the BB Cream (WOW!) and Dr. Young's very own founder, Miss Krystine Chae. And this particular Triple Action BB SPF 33 PA+++ is one of the best sellers, due to its natural beige color which resembles most Asian skin tones as well as its whitening, anti-wrinkle and UV Block functions.
The ingredients such as Arbutin give a powerful whitening effect, Licorice Extracts prevents pigmentation, while Adenosine and White Flower Complex resolve wrinkle issues and recover damaged skin. Soybean Ferment Extract is a natural moistening substance, and Portucula Oleracea Extract and Centella Asiatica Extract sooth irritated skin! In addition, it is alcohol-free, scent-free and Paraben-free! Instead, it has a multi-emulsion structure to allow for a fresh and moist feel with no stickiness at all. The best part is that it does not oxidize nor turn greyish even after hours upon application!
Color and Texture
BUT OMG I WAS WRONG! I started patting in the BB Cream and was pretty wowed. It really did do as the description said and allowed for a moist feel with no stickiness!* I went out with some concealer under my eyes after and didn't dust any loose powder or anything! It lasted well through my 8 hours, didn't sink into my pores nor accentuate my fine lines! I also like how it suited my skin tone well and din't turn grey. It might be a LITTLE oily for those who are acne prone or have oily skin in general - so I do suggest putting powder over.
*I was using a matte Sunblock from IDS and I generally have combination skin
Typically, I like to dab on BB Cream onto my face in dots and then blend it out with my 13Rushes Flat Top Sculpting Brush. This brush doesn't so much of buff the product in, but rather it blends it out in smooth strokes that ensures the finish is never patchy or streaky! Just do it quickly and in short strokes and it will look flawless.
Since this BB Cream, however, is a little heavier, I found that patting it in with your hands ensures that the warmth spreads to the product and lets it sit better.
So here is the before and after of the application - what do you think?
Personally, I think it covers up redness adequately enough, but if you need more just go with concealer - this goes for dark rings too. I suppose because it's going for the natural look that it doesn't cover as much. Perhaps I would rate the coverage at a light-medium depending on how many layers you wish to apply. What I did like is that I did not need to use powder, and the product still lasted well through the day and look at how even my skin tone is!! And even though I was mostly in air conditioning through the day, it was also hydrating enough for the areas of dehydration on my face, which I really appreciate!
If you're going for the matte look, I don't think this is quite it. BUT! If you're going for that ever elusive Korean dewy look that we all can't seem to achieve in Singapore's horrid humidity - TRY THIS. It would be great for that!
